New Website
October 16, 2023
Given the fact that I am about to publish some papers and (officially) embark on a Ph.D, I figured it was finally time to make a webpage for myself. I have always felt that LinkedIn is a little disingenuine, and anyone who knows me well knows that I wear my heart on my sleeve. So, in an attempt to reconcile these facts and better express myself within at least semi-professional confines, I made this. Further, I decided to make two subsections of the site that go somewhat beyond what I imagine is on a typical site like this: a section for my thoughts relating to mechanics and mathematics and a blog for anything else I see fit to share publicly. Voila, an introduction to the site.
The design of this site is, I am proud to say, entirely original. I had been putting off creating this site for quite some time because I knew I wanted to do everything myself but I was intimidated by the prospect of learning html, css, javascript, et cetera. However, the process proved simple enough given my familiarity with other coding languages. The hardest part was actually just designing that mesh on the left side of the screen, which I thought would be a cool graphic given the kind of work I do. It isn’t meant to represent anything in particular, although it does somewhat look like a contour plot of electrolyte ion concentration in a single cell Newman model battery simulation. Regardless, I will probably post all the html and python files I used to make this to my github eventually once I link it to this site (and remember the password). They are pretty poorly organized at the moment given that I am still a novice at web design, but others may find them interesting.
